More than one hundred years ago, The All India Reporter (AIR) was conceptualised by Late Shri V. V. Chitaley (The Founder) as a law journal reporting judgments with its head notes from all High Courts across the then British India and the Privy Council. Considering the infrastructural facilities available in those days, it was a herculean task, but the Founder took upon himself this task with selfless objective of serving his brethren in the legal fraternity. His aim was prompt, accurate and reliable reporting at the most affordable price.

An ardent proponent of freedom of law reporting in India, the Founder was always at the forefront to protect this freedom whenever it under any danger. He believed that there must be absolute freedom of law reporting, if there is to be proper development of law in this country, and his work in this field is one of his most important contributions to the development of law in India.

The All India Reporter, as an organisation can take pride with all humility, as being a pioneer in the field of law publications and for revolutionising the law publication field. The AIR has many 'Firsts' to its long list of achievements. We were the first publishing house to start and publish an all India Journal - the AIR, covering case law from the length and breadth of the Sub-Continent, Compendium of Statute with case law and annotation references - the AIR Manual Series, the Fifty Years, Quinquennial and other Digest Series, first to introduce unique style of editorial in the form of Foot Note Remarks in our Commentaries & Text books, Databases of case law in DVD and all other forms of electronic media etc. etc. Thus, AIR has a presence in all the three media of information transmission – Print (Journals, Periodicals, Text books, Digests, Commentaries, Ready Reckoners, Bare Acts, Practical Approach Series, Short Commentaries etc. etc.), Electronic – On-line (AIROnline) & Off-line (Le Search Database), Mobile Applications and Mobile handsets, making it a very robust and virile Law Publication House, which is responsive to the needs of the market without compromising on the core belief of Optimum Quality at the lowest cost.

However, change is the only constant and adaptability to changing times and needs is the mantra of virility and longevity. From a foot print across print media to electronic media in the Legal Information Dissemination segment, AIR is now looking beyond the publication segment and realising the need of the hour, we are now foraying into new segments of Legal Domain. AIR was founded by the Founder with the aim of ‘Service’ and in consonance with the evolving requirements of the Legal fraternity, we are now entering the ‘Legal Services’ segment, where we aim to provide various comprehensive and reliable services to members of the Legal fraternity.

Our publications are a bench mark for precision, accuracy, reliability and dependability and are available and relied upon in more than 578 out of 581 Districts of India. Our products are the most widely used reference and search tools in the Indian Judiciary and we have the privilege of being cited in the Supreme Court, all High Courts and District & Moffusil Courts across India. We also take pride in our journals and various publications being subscribed in Courts and Tribunals of many Foreign Countries.

From receiving the Judgments from across India to editing them, pre-press activities, printing, post-press activities and finally despatching the books – all these activities are done under one roof at our Nagpur centre. We command the readership loyalty of nearly 1 million readers and we despatch thousands of books every month from our Nagpur centre.
